C/L contour model copy PML-2002 "Yak-18P" continues a series of models of half-nighters "Wings of Soviets" in the class F4B (F4B).

This model is training and is intended mainly for beginners modelers. It is simple in design, stable in flight, has a good appearance. The use of a three-wheeled chassis allows the model to avoid tilting at the start and forgives rough landing errors.

The model will be available in versions allowing the installation of different types of engines, both foreign (ASP, OS LA) and domestic engines (there is an option for KMD 2.5, MARZ 2.5 and 2.5 CSTKAM). The kit will be a wonderful gift for both beginners and experienced modelers.

The Yak-18 is a Soviet training plane.

Yak-18 (NATO codification: Max)-Soviet training aircraft, which replaced the aircraft UT-2 in the air force, civil aviation and air clubs as the main aircraft of the initial training. He became the founder of an extensive family of different aircraft, including the four-seat Yak-18T.

The progenitor of the Yak-18 can be considered a UT-2 aircraft, which was also designed in the Yakovlev design Bureau, later (in 1940-ies) upgraded and was called the UT-2L. Many of the developments used in this upgraded model were transferred to the Yak-18

In our country at that time on the basis of the Yak-18A was developed and built a single sports and aerobatic aircraft Yak-18AP. Soon he was modified: the cabin moved forward, and the chassis is completely retractable, and the main landing gear folded along the scope towards the fuselage, and not along the wing chord, as in the Yak-18A. The aircraft called the Yak-18P was built in series. The success of our athletes who performed in Spain at the Yak-18P, confirmed that the Soviet designers are on the right track, but revealed significant shortcomings of the aircraft.

Modification of the aircraft was entrusted to a group of young engineers OKB — the recent graduates of the Moscow aviation Institute. On the plane, called the Yak-18PM, put a new engine AI-14RF capacity of 300 HP (instead of AI - 14r 260 HP), the angle of the V-shaped wing to increase lateral stability in inverted flight was reduced, strengthened some structural elements and changed the area of compensation of the steering surfaces. The cockpit was shifted back so that in flight the pilot could see the wing against the horizon and the ground behind the trailing edge of the wing. This review created the pilot undeniable tactical advantages in the performance of the complex over a platform of limited size, the rear location of the cabin later became indispensable for the best sports and aerobatic aircraft.
